Passenger Killed, Driver Injured in Car Accident at Brentwood and Byron
LOCATION: East Contra Costa
DATE OF ACCIDENT: Sunday, October 7th
October 9, 2018 – One person was killed, and another man was injured in an alleged DUI car crash at the intersection of Brentwood Boulevard and Byron Highway.
According to East Bay Times, a 25-year-old Brentwood man was speeding in the area when his Dodge Magnum station wagon crashed into a traffic signal pole. The impact caused the vehicle to split to half.
Deadly Car Accident Sunday in East Contra Costa
Primary reports indicated the passenger was thrown off the vehicle during the crash. That man reportedly suffered fatal trauma as a result of the incident, and was sadly pronounced dead at the location.
The identity of the deceased remained undisclosed pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, authorities mentioned the driver suffered only minor injuries. As per the article, police suspected the driver had been drinking prior to the crash. They arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter charges. The driver was apparently booked in the Martinez jail on Sunday morning.
Further investigation on the case is underway.
