Hit-and-Run Driver Corey Kalata, 31, Crashes Into Another Car in South Lake Tahoe
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA (May 30, 2021) – Authorities detained Corey Kalata after a hit-and-run crash in South Lake Tahoe.
Police identified the 31-year-old South Lake Tahoe man as the suspect in the accident which occurred on Saturday afternoon.
The incident happened when Corey Kalata struck another vehicle with his car on Highway 50 in South Lake Tahoe. The two crashed on May 29 near Motel 6.
Witnesses said Corey Kalata drove erratically following the collision. Tahoe Daily Tribune and South Tahoe Now wrote that he fled into the state streets near Tahoe Keys Boulevard.

Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and then found one person in the victim vehicle who ended up hurt as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel took the patient to the Barton Health for treatment of unspecified injuries. The name of the wounded party and their condition at this time were not released.
Meanwhile, the suspect car ended up abandoned at the dead end of Wyoming Avenue with extensive front-end damage. Kalata ran into the meadow between the state streets and Tahoe Valley Elementary after the crash.
Police soon located and arrested him for felony hit and run. They booked him into the El Dorado County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 bail. Records showed that Kalata has been released.
The South Lake Tahoe hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
