Bicycle Rider Seriously Injured in Corning Crash at Highway 99w and Sonoma Avenue
CORNING, CA (November 8, 2021) – A bicycle rider was seriously injured after a crash at Highway 99w and Sonoma Avenue in Corning.
The California Highway Patrol said the accident took place on Monday night. According to their dispatch, officers reported the wreck at about 8:19 p.m.
The incident happened when it was raining in Corning and the bicycle rider was traveling in the area. CHP determined that the driver of a dark green Dodge Ram 2500 failed to see the bicyclist in the process.
The car then struck the victim at the intersection of Highway 99w and Sonoma Avenue.
Bicyclist Hit by Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene near Richfield. They found the cyclist who sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel took the patient to a hospital for treatment. The report did not disclose the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP did not mention if the motorist stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the rider. Officers forced the area of Highway 99w and Sonoma Avenue to close following the collision.
The Corning bicycle crash is still under investigation.
