Corning Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Crash Corning Road Interstate 5

Man, 51, Killed in Hit-and-Run on Corning Road Near Interstate 5

CORNING, CA (August 16, 2021) – A pedestrian was killed after a hit-and-run crash on Corning Road near the Interstate 5.

According to an article published by the Red Bluff Daily News, the tragic accident took place late Friday night. Officers reported the collision at around 11 p.m. in Corning.

The incident happened on August 13 when a vehicle struck a male pedestrian for an unknown reason. The driver hit him on Corning Road near the Interstate 5 exit ramp.

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and soon found the 51-year-old man left lying in the eastbound lane. He died as a result of the collision.

The name of the deceased victim remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, police affirmed that motorist did not stop to render aid to the man and then fled the area.

Officers forced a stretch of Corning Road near the Interstate 5 to shut down for hours following the  collision. The cause of the fatal hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
