CORONA, California (July 9, 2014) – Two vehicles overturned in a chain-reaction car accident Wednesday morning stemming from a stalled vehicle in the slow lanes of the State Route 91 Freeway, just east of Green River Road, according to a dispatch by the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officers reported the 7:23 a.m. crash began when one driver stalled in the slow lanes. The driver put the hood up to check the engine, but the car was hit by another driver and overturned onto its side. A second car also overturned onto its roof and one of them begin smoking. The chain-reaction collision involved as many as 10 vehicles, the CHP report said.
One of the drivers in a black Chevrolet Cruz by the name of John Weiner told police he was driving a rental vehicle.
Corona Fire Department paramedics were called to the scene of the multi-vehicle crash to assist those who were injured.
Police are heading up an investigation into the accident and will assign liability.
