CORONA, Calif. (May 19, 2014) –– Michael Cole, 55, of Ontario was killed Saturday afternoon when the cement truck he was driving was struck by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train in the 5200 block of Green River Golf Club, according to a dispatch by the California Highway Patrol.
The Robertson’s Ready Mix cement truck was crossing the unguarded railroad trucks when the train accident took place. He died at the scene about 12:35 p.m. The Corona Fire Department was at the scene, but there were no others injured or killed in the crash.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident and liability. Train service was distructed and passengers had to find alternative ways to their destinations.
“My condolences go out to the family of Mr. Cole as they learn of his tragic accident and come to terms wiht his loss,” said Attorney James Johnson.
