We offer our sincerest thoughts and prayers to the woman who has been gravely hurt in this senseless accident. We also extend our support to her family and friends during such a difficult time.
Most traffic accidents which involve a motorist who flees the scene can be subjected to serious criminal charges, especially when a particular crash causes serious injuries to another person. Such circumstances are likely considered as “felony hit-and-run,” leaving the victim and her family a legal right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit against the suspect.
Drivers who are involved in car collisions are obliged to stop and provide assistance to injured individuals and to cooperate with the authorities. In this case, Mr. Humberto Jara took off and left the pedestrian critically injured in the roadway. The woman has likely a right to pursue a claim against the at-fault party, seeking a compensation for all the hospital bills, future medical needs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
