5 Injured in Alleged DUI Crash at Harbor Boulevard and Harbor Center
COSTA MESA (July 29, 2018) – Several people were injured after a police chase ended in a car crash at the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Harbor Center, according to the Orange County Register.
The incident occurred on Saturday at approximately 10:50 a.m.
Officials said the pursuit began after police located a vehicle, that has been reported stolen, traveling northbound on Harbor Boulevard at Hamilton Street. Police attempted to pull it over but the driver fled northbound for approximately half a mile.
When the chased vehicle approached the Harbor Center intersection, it turned left at a high rate of speed and crashed into multiple vehicles stopped at the crossing.
Shortly after the wreck, paramedics arrived at the location and attended to the victims. Medical records indicated a total of five people suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash. The names of the injured parties have not been disclosed thus far.
DUI Driver Destiney Nielson Arrested After Costa Mesa Car Accident
Authorities narrated the 27-year-old driver of the suspect vehicle was arrested following the incidnet. Destiney Nielson was taken into custody on suspicion of vehicle theft and DUI. Furthermore, 21-year-old passenger Jonathan Martinez was also arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Harbor Boulevard was shut down for about an hour while police investigated and cleared the scene. Further investigation on the case is underway.
