Motorcyclist Hospitalized 55 Freeway Crash Near Airport
ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. (May 25, 2021) — A 55 Freeway motorcycle accident happened Tuesday in the Costa Mesa/Santa Ana area of Orange County.
The crash happened about 3:14 p.m. on May 25th near MacArthur Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Furthermore, the drivers of a motorcycle, a white Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, a black GMC Terrain and two silver sedans were involved in the multi-vehicle collision.
Multi-Vehicle Crash on 55 Freeway
Several vehicles were blocking the HOV and No. 1 lanes of the 55 Freeway, also, the motorcyclist was down in the fast lane. The pickup truck reportedly hit the bike due to unknown reasons. It appears that there were several separate collisions among the motorists involved. Possibly, a serious of chain-reaction crashes, but this will be indicated in the official police report.
Police say a 12-year-old boy witnessed the motorcyclist crash and spoke with 911 operators. Paramedics responded and rushed the injured motorcycle rider to Orange County Global Medical Center. Emergency medical personnel will treat the injured rider’s undisclosed moderate injuries, police said. Additionally, the report does not specify if others were injured in the collision.
Meanwhile, investigators seek to determine liability for the 55 Freeway motorcycle accident.
