COSTA MESA, California (March 25, 2016) — Two people suffered serious head injuries when a motorcycle rider crashed into a gardening truck and a nearby pedestrian on Anton Avenue, just east of Avenue of the Arts, according to the Costa Mesa Police Department.
The crash took place about 7:30 a.m. when the 21-year-old Cerritos motorcycle rider attempted to pass several slower moving vehicles and hit the parked truck and the 58-year-old pedestrian. The motorcycle rider was critically injured, suffering serious injuries including a traumatic brain injury, broken ribs and a collapsed lung and was rushed to Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana for treatment.
The pedestrian also suffered a traumatic brain injury, a broken pelvis and an injury to his or her leg in the crash. This person was also hospitalized.
Police are investigating the crash and stated that the rider was not speeding when the accident took place just blocks from South Coast Plaza in Orange County.
