Major Crash on 55 Costa Mesa Freeway
COSTA MESA, Calif. (May 30, 2018) — At least one person was seriously injured Wednesday morning in a collision involving several vehicles where one knocked over a light pole on the 55 Freeway, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
The crash took place about 9:03 a.m. The CHP report stated that a silver Ford Fusion struck the light pole as it veered off the freeway and up an embankment on the right shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle was “wrapped around the pole,” the CHP report said.
Police issued a SigAlert for the crash as the pole was lying across the Nos. 3, 4 and 5 lanes of the roadway.
