Traffic Slows on Southbound 405 Freeway After Several Cars Collide
COSTA MESA, California (March 31, 2014) – At least one person was injured Monday afternoon in a multi-vehicle collision on the southbound Interstate 405 Freeway at the connector to the State Route 73 Freeway, according to a dispatch by the California Highway Patrol.
About 2:22 p.m., CHP officers say three drivers collided in the No. 3 lane including one that ended up facing the wrong way. Someone inside the wrong-way vehicle was injured in the crash and police called for paramedics to respond.
The Costa Mesa Fire Department arrived on the scene to treat the injured person(s), but the report did not disclosed whether or not any of them were transported to hospitals. At least two other drivers pulled over on the right side of the roadway, but it was unclear whether they were involved or witnessed the collision.
“Hopefully no one was seriously injured in this car accident,” said James Johnson, a Newport Beach personal injury attorney. “This part of the freeway is known for collisions as drivers fight to merge or exit the 405 Freeway.”
