Bicyclist Killed in Cottonwood Hit-and-Run Crash on Gas Point Road
COTTONWOOD, CA (May 25, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash killed a bicyclist on Gas Point Road in Cottonwood.
According to an article published by the KRCRTV News, the tragic accident occurred late Tuesday morning. Officers reported the incident shortly after 11 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol said a red vehicle struck the bicycle rider for an unknown reason in Cottonwood. The driver hit the cyclist on Gas Point Road, just east of Happy Valley Road.
Driver Hits Bicycle Rider, Flees Scene
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded and found the victim left lying on the side of the roadway as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene. The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the motorist involved did not stop to render aid to the rider and then fled the area. The vehicle sustained front-end damage due to the impact of the crash.
The fatal Cottonwood hit-and-run collision is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the CHP at (530) 225-0500.
