5-Vehicle Chain-reaction Collision in Cottonwood
COTTONWOOD, Calif. (Nov. 7, 2024) – Six people were hurt in a chain-reaction crash involving five vehicles Wednesday afternoon on Bowman Road in Cottonwood.
The California Highway Patrol’s Red Bluff station sent police to the scene around 2:38 p.m. on Nov. 6th due to the crash at Bowman Road and Adams Road, according to Action News Now.
The five-vehicle crash was blocking Bowman Road, just east of Adams Road, the report said.
The drivers of a Dodge Ram 3500 pickup truck, a Ford Escape, a Kia Soul, a Lincoln MKZ, and a Chevrolet Impala sedan were involved.
The CHP says that the driver of the Dodge Ram 3500 was traveling eastbound at 40 mph on Bowman Road when they came upon stopped traffic.
Police believe the driver of the Ram didn’t see traffic stopped ahead before crashing into the other vehicles ahead of them.
The Ram crashed into the vehicle in front of it and set off a chain-reaction crash involving the other four vehicles.
Paramedics responded and located six people with minor injuries from the crash. Two of the injured were traveling in the Lincoln MKZ and they were transported to a local hospital.
Investigators are working to determine liability for the crash.
