COULTERVILLE, MARIPOSA COUNTY (October 18, 2016) – According to an article by Union Democrat, 32-year-old Nicholas Goins suffered fatal trauma and 45-year-old Franklin Harp sustained injuries following a car crash on Highway 132.
At about 7:30 p.m. on October 14, a collision between a 1998 Toyota and a 2007 BMW transpired on the highway near Don Pedro Reservoir and east of Bonds Flat Road.
As per the report, Goins was driving a Toyota on the eastbound of the highway when his vehicle suddenly veered off its lane and went directly into the path of a westbound BMW driven by Harp. The vehicles collided head-on and resulted in the Toyota pushed down a steep embankment, and subsequently caught fire.
Responding emergency crews pronounced Goins deceased at the scene due to the severity of his sustained injuries.
Meanwhile, Franklin was transported to Sonora Regional Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.
The California Highway Patrol group noted that alcohol or drugs could be a factor.
