The accident took place about 2:30 p.m. on San Marcos Boulevard near Knoll Road.
As per the article, sheriff’s department said a couple was walking in the parking lot of the Home Depot on San Marcos Boulevard when they were struck by an SUV from behind.
The 65-year-old woman was transported to the hospital with pelvic fractures, cuts to her upper body and serious head trauma including bleeding in her brain. The 60-year-old man was treated at the scene for minor cuts.
Their names have not been yet disclosed.
Meanwhile, deputies affirmed that the driver involved did not stop to render aid and fled eastbound. In a report by NBC San Diego, a witness described the suspect vehicle as a late-model white Ford Explorer or Expedition and the motorist as a darker-skinned young man wearing dark clothing.
