Courtney Harrison, 26, Killed in Suspected DUI Crash Near Redwood Heights Road

October 1, 2018 – One person was killed in an ATV accident near Redwood Heights Road, according to Santa Cruz Sentinel.
The fatality was identified as 26-year-old Australian woman, Courtney Harrison.
As per the article, around 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, Harrison was riding as a passenger on an ATV operated by 29-year-old Nicholas Zier, of Portola Valley. Possibly due to intoxication, Zier lost control of the ATV, causing it to overturn on a private road, just off Redwood Heights Road.
Authorities determined Zier, Harrison, and another 29-year-old male passenger were not wearing seatbelts, and were all ejected during the crash.
Primary reports indicated Zier and the male passenger performed CPR to Harrison, who was unresponsive following the accident. Shortly after, friends arrived at the crash site and transported all three to the house on the property.
Deadly ATV Rollover Crash Saturday in Aptos
When CHP, Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Deputies, AMR, and Aptos Fire arrived at the house, they immediately attended to Harrison. Paramedics sadly pronounced the woman deceased at the scene.
DUI Driver Nicholas Zier Arrested After Fatal ATV Accident
Meanwhile, police reportedly arrested Zier after being treated for minor injuries. The ATV operator was booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail on felony DUI charges.
