6 Injured in Covina Crash Near Barranca Avenue and Cypress Street
COVINA, CA (June 12, 2022) – Several were seriously injured after a head-on crash near Barranca Avenue and Cypress Street in Covina.
According to the KTLA News and NBC Los Angeles, the accident took place early Sunday. Officers reported the wreck at about 1:30 a.m.
Covina police said a vehicle crossed the center line for an unknown reason and slammed head-on into another car traveling in the other direction.
The two cars, a white sedan and a black SUV, crashed near the intersection of Barranca Avenue and Cypress Street. A total of six people sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Children Victims in Wreck
Police described four of them as a 29-year-old woman driving the sedan and her three children passengers, ages 4 and younger.
The reports identified the other victims as the two occupants of the SUV, a man and woman in their 60s. Paramedics soon took four patients to the LA County/USC Medical Center for treatment.
Medical personnel then rushed the other two to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. Two of the three children remained in critical condition, and one child ended up in serious condition.
Officials did not release the names of the wounded parties. Meanwhile, police believed that the driver of the sedan was under the influence of alcohol when she hit the SUV.
Officers forced the area of Barranca and Cypress to shut down for hours following the wreck. The cause of the Covina crash is still under investigation.
