MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif., (Oct. 26, 2026) — A major injury collision involving a silver Toyota SUV and possibly another vehicle occurred Sunday night in Monterey County on westbound Highway 198 near mile marker 6.3 in San Lucas.
The incident was reported on Oct. 25th at approximately 9:05 p.m. when emergency responders, including the California Highway Patrol (CHP), AMR paramedics, and CAL FIRE, were dispatched to the scene. According to the CHP, the crash was initially classified as a traffic collision with injuries but was later updated to a major-injury collision.
Upon arrival, paramedics found the silver Toyota SUV in a field adjacent to the roadway. Inside the SUV were three children, reportedly awake and conscious. The adult who was with them was not injured.
Emergency services worked diligently to assess and treat injuries as necessary. The exact details of the injuries sustained by the involved parties have not been disclosed at this time.
