DUI-Related Crash Blocks Lanes on I-15 South in Scripps Poway
San Diego, CA (April 1, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash involving a DUI suspect happened Tuesday afternoon on the southbound I-15 Freeway near Scripps Poway in San Diego.
There were significant traffic delays due to the collision involving a white Mercedes and a dark blue sedan, according to the California Highway Patrol report at approximately 10:56 AM on April 1st.
Initial reports indicated the collision involved a traffic hazard in the slow lanes. The incident led to the blockage of five lanes, causing traffic to back up, and emergency responders quickly arrived on scene.
The CHP determined a driver of one vehicle under the influence of drugs and or alcohol and the person was taken into custody for booking. Meanwhile, both of the vehicles were removed from the roadway, and lanes were cleared by 2:03 PM.
Paramedics responded, however, there were no serious injuries reported.
Finally, the incident caused major delays during the cleanup and investigation process and motorists were advised to avoid the route or plan for delays.
