
CRESCENT CITY, Calif. (Feb. 23, 2023) — A fatal Crescent City crash happened Wednesday afternoon at Highway 101 and US Route 199 in Del Norte County.
The two-vehicle crash occurred about 4:50 p.m. on Feb. 22nd, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch.
The drivers of a blue Chevrolet pickup truck and a red Toyota 4 Runner SUV were involved in the collision. People were trapped in both vehicles and smoke was coming from the engine of one of them.
The Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office responded as well as paramedics to help those involved, but sadly at least one person died following the crash.
Also, authorities closed down a portion of the northbound Highway 101 at Elk Valley Road South due to the crash.
Tow trucks from Robertson’s Towing and Affordable Towing came to remove both vehicles from the roadway.
Investigators are working on the case to determine fault for the fatal Crescent City crash on Highway 101.
