Los Angeles Man, 43, Died in Moorpark Collision
MOORPARK, Calif. (May 3, 2024) — Cristobal Sanchez-Perez, 43, of Los Angeles fatal crash happened Thursday afternoon at State Route 118, just west of Balcom Canyon Road between Moorpark and Somis.
The victim was identified by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The four-vehicle collision occurred on East Los Angeles Avenue (SR-118) at around 3:17 p.m. on May 2nd, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported the drivers of a black Honda Civic, a Toyota Highlander SUV, a white Ford Transit-250 van and a black Ford Raptor pickup truck were involved.
Traffic was reportedly slowing down and the drivers in the Honda and the Ford Raptor adjusted their speed, but a driver in a Ford van didn’t slow down fast enough.
Instead, the van driver struck the left back end of the Honda Civic, causing the car to collided with the back of the Ford Raptor.
Meanwhile, the Ford van also crossed over into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into a white Toyota Highlander, the Ventura County Star reports.
Firefighters from the Ventura County Fire Department responded and located three people trapped in the Highlander SUV and one person trapped in another vehicle.
Unfortunately, the driver of the Toyota Highlander identified as Cristobal Sanchez-Perez sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. Also, two people riding as passengers in the Highlander were treated for moderate injuries.
Furthermore, the two drivers from the Raptor and the Honda did not report any serious injuries.
The fatal crash resulted in the temporary closure of State Route 118.
Finally, the Highlander and the black Honda with major damage were towed from the crash scene.
