LOS ANGELES, Calif. (March 8, 2022) —  A driver struck a crossing guard in a crash on Manhattan Beach Boulevard Tuesday morning in front on Alondra Park in the Lawndale area.

The pedestrian accident happened about 7:57 a.m. on March 8th at Cranbrook Avenue, just west of El Camino College, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A driver in a Honda reportedly struck the crossing guard at the intersection. It’s unknown what led up to the collision at this time. Paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to help the injured crossing guard, but there are no further details.  The CHP dispatch reported this is a possible fatality, but that has not been confirmed.

Police requested Los Angeles County Public Works respond to set up at hard closure of both the westbound and eastbound lanes of Manhattan Beach Boulevard at Cranbrook Avenue.

Meanwhile, investigators are working on the case and will determine liability for the collision.  The roadway reopened by 9:46 a.m. and police canceled the SigAlert.
