Driver Killed in Crash on Tyler Street in Riverside
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (July 12, 2021) — Cruz Carrasco, 52, of Anaheim, died in a head-on crash with another motorist on Tyler Street in Riverside.
The 52-year-old man suffered fatal injuries about 1 a.m. on Monday, July 12th in the head-on collision on the west side of Riverside, according to the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner. A 28-year-old Riverside man driving the other vehicle reportedly lost control of a car crashed directly into oncoming traffic, police said.
The fatal crash happened in the 4400 block of Tyler Street, near California Avenue, police said.
The Riverside man driving a 2008 Lexus sedan was traveling northbound on Tyler Street. Police do not yet know if speed was a factor in the collision. It’s unknown what caused him to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle crossed over the center median before it struck the car driven by Carrasco. The Anaheim man was heading southbound in a 2011 Nissan Sentra and could not avoid the crash.
Riverside Fire Department paramedics pronounced Cruz Carrasco dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, paramedics rushed the injured Lexus driver to Riverside Community Hospital for treatment of major injuries.
