Motorcyclist Killed in Cupertino Hit-and-Run Crash on Interstate 280 Near De Anza

CUPERTINO, CA (December 4, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash killed a motorcyclist on the Interstate 280 in Cupertino.

According to an article published by The Mercury News, the fatal accident took place early Saturday. Officers reported the collision at about 1:19 a.m.

The incident began a vehicle struck a male motorcyclist for an unknown reason. The driver hit him on the southbound Interstate 280 near the North De Anza Boulevard on-ramp in Cupertino.

The rider fell off the bike as a result of the collision. The California Highway Patrol said several other vehicles approached and then ran over the victim.

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and soon found the motorcyclist left lying on the ground. He died following the wreck.

The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the first motorist who hit the rider did not stop to help  and fled the area.

Officers forced the southbound lanes of the Interstate 280 to shut down for a time after the incident. The cause of the Cupertino hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
