CUPERTINO: Motorcyclist Injured in Crash with SUV on I-280 Freeway, Wolfe Road

Motorcyclist Injured in Cupertino Crash on Interstate 280
CUPERTINO, Calif. (June 26, 2026) — A motorcyclist was injured Friday morning in a collision involving a BMW SUV in Cupertino on southbound Interstate 280 near the Wolfe Road off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The two-vehicle crash was reported on June 26th at approximately 11:32 a.m. on southbound Interstate 280 just before the Wolfe Road exit.
Initial reports indicated a BMW SUV collided with a motorcycle, leaving the rider lying in the roadway and blocking the left lane. Emergency responders from the Santa Clara County Fire Department were dispatched to the scene, where they provided medical assistance to the injured motorcyclist.
Investigation into Motorcycle Accident on I-280 Freeway
Authorities have not released the rider’s condition or the circumstances leading up to the collision. Detectives will look into whether the SUV moved into the path of the motorcycle rider or if the motorcyclist was speeding or distracted.
The crash temporarily blocked one lane of traffic, causing delays for motorists traveling through the area. CHP officers later reported that one lane had reopened shortly before 12:40 p.m., and traffic gradually resumed.
Both the motorcycle, which sustained extensive damage, and the BMW SUV were towed from the scene. Investigators requested separate tow trucks to remove the damaged vehicles.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the collision. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has dash camera footage is encouraged to contact the CHP with information that may assist the investigation.
