Curtis Gunn Killed, Laurelyn Gunn Injured in Walnut Creek DUI Crash on Tice Creek Drive
WALNUT CREEK, CA (April 19, 2022) – A DUI crash killed Curtis Gunn and injured Laurelyn Gunn on Tice Creek Drive in Walnut Creek.
Police identified the 64-year-old Rossmoor man and his wife as the victims of the fatal collision which took place on Saturday night.
The incident happened when Curtis Gunn and Laurelyn Gunn were walking on the sidewalk on Tice Creek Drive in Walnut Creek. They were walking home and approaching an intersection at the time.
A vehicle came and then jumped the curb. Walnut Creek Police said the car clipped Laurelyn Gunn and struck Curt Gunn straight on in the process.
DUI Driver Hits Pedestrian
The force of the collision knocked the male pedestrian 20 to 25 feet from the point of impact. His wife survived with non-life-threatening injuries.
Paramedics rushed them to a hospital, where the man died. The Mercury News and East County Today wrote that the accident occurred on April 16 at about 9 p.m.
Meanwhile, the car rolled onto its side as a result of the accident. Firefighters freed the driver from the wreckage and treated him for minor wounds.
Police determined that the motorist was under the influence when he hit the victims. They soon arrested him for DUI and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
