Suspect Driving White 2009-2010 Kia Sportage Sought by Police
PHELAN, Calif. (Sept. 18, 2024) — Cynthia R. Moss, 65, of Phelan, died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident Monday night on Phelan Road near Buttemere Road in Phelan.
The deadly collision occurred at 7:44 p.m. on Sept. 16th in San Bernardino County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported they located the victim in traffic lanes, but unfortunately she died on scene. Authorities believe Cynthia Moss used a walker as she crossed the road in a south direction and a driver struck her in the eastbound lane of Phelan Road.
Investigators have been going over evidence found at the scene and they believe the suspect initially pulled over onto the south shoulder of Phelan Road. Someone apparently exited the vehicle and removed and discarded the woman’s walker before driving off, CHP officials said.
Investigators are working to locate the suspect who they believe was driving a white 2009-2010 Kia Sportage SUV. Police believe the vehicle could have significant right front end damage.
Witnesses, or anyone with information, can reach the CHP’s Victorville Station at (760) 241-1186.
