Cynthia Perez Killed in Concord Bicycle Accident on Highway 242
Woman Identified as Cyclist Killed in Crash on SR-242
CONCORD, Calif. (Dec. 2, 2024) — Cynthia Perez, 34, of Concord, died in a bicycle versus car accident on Highway 242 Sunday night in Concord, just north of the Oliveira Road overpass.
The traffic collision occurred at around 8:50 p.m. on Nov. 24th, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.
It happened in the southbound lanes of state Route 242, the CHP said.
A driver in a white GMC Yukon SUV struck the bicyclist who was riding in the far right lane.
Paramedics responded to the scene, but the cyclist suffered fatal injuries before they could be transported to a hospital.
The victim’s identity was released by authorities as Cynthia Perez.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Yukon stopped and was questioned about what happened by the CHP investigators. Alcohol and or drugs are not a factor in the collision.
