Hit-and-run Driver Sought by Police
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, California (July 7, 2017) —Cynthia Lee Wesley, 56, was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver as she attempted to cross Vermont Avenue at 140th Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The victim died of her injuries at the scene of the crash, but the driver fled and is being sought by police. Unfortunately, there is no description of the vehicle, but the vehicle was seen traveling northbound on Vermont Avenue.
Police say the woman was in a marked crosswalk when the collision took place.
A reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and or conviction of the suspect has been offered by the city of Los Angeles. The Hit-and-Run Reward Trust Fund was established by the Los Angeles City Council in 2015.
Witnesses Sought Hit-and-run Crash
Police are asking anyone with information about the crash to call them at (323) 421-2500 and ask for Detective Flannery of the LAPD’s South Traffic Division.
