MONTCLAIR, California (October 13, 2016) —Daisy Batres, 52, of Rialto has been identified as the woman killed
in a multi-vehicle collision on the westbound Interstate 10 Freeway in San Bernardino County, a California Highway Patrol report said.
The crash took place about 3:16 a.m. after the CHP received reports about a wrong-way driver — later identified as Christopher Olivas — was driving his Chevrolet Tahoe SUV eastbound in the westbound lanes. The driver was traveling in lanes for at least two miles before crashing with a Nissan Sentra driven by Batres, the Los Angeles Times reported. The Nissan then struck a Chevrolet Traverse and injured a 29-year-old Baldwin Park woman.
The collision took place in the HOV lane near the Monte Vista Avenue exit.
ABC 7 stated that Olivas was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The crash is still under investigation.
