Deputy, Innocent Driver Hospitalized After Chase Ends in Car Accident at Victoria Avenue and 5th Street Sunday
San Bernardino, CA (April 13, 2021) – On April 11, Sunday, a San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy suffered injuries following a car crash in the area of Victoria Avenue and 5th Street.
According to the Press Enterprise, 26-year-old Dakota Fields was behind the wheel of a Nissan 350Z driving around San Bernardino. Initial records indicated officers attempted to pull over Dakota Fields for traffic violations.
The news article mentioned Dakota Fields failed to yield and led the police to a chase. When the Nissan approached the intersection at Victoria and 5th, Dakota Fields ran a red light. The patrol vehicle followed with the emergency lights and siren on. In the process, the patrol vehicle collided with a Jeep Cherokee.
Shortly after 6 p.m., medical personnel arrived at the site and rendered aid to possible victims. Our sources indicated an ambulance transported the deputy and driver of the Jeep to a local hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. The names of the patient remained undisclosed pending confirmation.

Meanwhile, responding officers reportedly located Dakota Fields near the accident scene. Police then arrested the man on suspicion of evading.
