Dallas Wheat Injured, Driver Killed in Car Crash on Highway 140
LOCATION: Catheys Valley, Mariposa County
DATE OF COLLISION: Friday, September 28th
October 1, 2018 – A driver was killed, and a passenger was injured after their vehicle went off Highway 140, according to Merced Sun-Star.
The accident happened on September 28, Friday, at about 5:44 p.m.
Deadly Car Accident Friday in Catheys Valley
Primary reports indicated the driver of a 2003 Ford F-150 failed to negotiate a moderate left curve in the roadway, and drifted onto the right shoulder of the highway near Trower Road. First responders reportedly found the pickup slammed into oak trees along the side of the road.
Investigators believed the driver was not properly restrained at the time of the crash, and was ejected from the vehicle. That man was sadly pronounced deceased shortly after the wreck. The name of the fatality remained undisclosed pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, another person involved in the crash was reportedly airlifted to Memorial Hospital in Modesto. 25-year-old Dallas Wheat, of Mariposa, was in the passenger seat when the accident happened. At this time, the severity of injuries sustained by Wheat remained unclear.
The cause of the collision was under investigation Monday. It is still unknown whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the deadly crash.
