Daniel Cardinal, 46, Hits Cars and Tree in Chico DUI Crash
CHICO, CA (June 1, 2021) – Authorities detained Daniel Cardinal after a DUI crash near East Avenue and North Avenue in Chico.
Officers determined that the 46-year-old Chico man was under the influence when the accident took place on Tuesday afternoon.
Chico police said Daniel Cardinal swiped two cars and then slammed into a tree. He lost control of his vehicle and came to stop near the intersection of East Avenue and North Avenue.
KRCRTV News and Action News Now wrote that the wreck occurred at about 12 p.m. The reports described two of the cars involved as an SUV and a sedan.

Firefighters along with the paramedics then responded to the scene. They found Daniel Cardinal and another driver who ended up hurt as a result of the crash.
Medical personnel took them to the Enloe Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries. A teenage girl, Cardinal’s daughter riding with him at the time, did not sustain any wound upon impact.
Officials did not release the name of the victim and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, police soon arrested Cardinal for DUI and child endangerment.
Meanwhile, officers forced the intersection to shut down following the wreck. The Chico DUI crash is still under investigation.
