Daniel De Los Santos Killed in Ukiah Hit-and-Run; Michael Seigler Arrested
UKIAH (February 5, 2018) – A pedestrian killed after an alleged hit-and-run accident on Highway 101 last week has been identified as Daniel De Los Santos, according to The Press Democrat.
California Highway Patrol said the 51-year-old Ukiah man was a victim of a tragic collision which occurred on January 30 at around 5:15 a.m.
As per the article, CHP affirmed that De Los Santos was crossing the Talmage Road on-ramp to southbound Highway 101 when he was struck by a 2016 Ford F-250 pickup truck. The pickup was turning onto the on-ramp when it hit the victim.
De Los Santos was found lying in the roadway with severe injuries to his head, rib-cage and leg. He was initially taken to to Adventist Health Ukiah Valley, then to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Meanwhile CHP claimed that the driver of the truck, 52-year-old Michael Seigler, left the scene following the collision. The Ukiah resident was arrested and booked into Mendocino County Jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run causing death and manslaughter with gross negligence with a bail set at $50,000.
