Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on April 27th is Identified
SOUTH SACRAMENTO, Calif. (May 2, 2023) — Daniel Eugene Leyva, 25, of Sacramento, died in motorcycle accident Thursday, April 27th on Fruitridge Road and Nona Way in South Sacramento.
The young man was riding the motorcycle eastbound on Fruitridge Road when a car made a left-turn into the motorcyclist around 6:50 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol South Sacramento station.
The Sacramento Fire Department responded and were unable to save the young man who died at the scene. The victim was thrown roughly 20 feet from the crash zone and his helmet came off when he crashed, Fox 40 News reports.
The driver of the vehicle stopped and cooperated with the police investigation, according to CHP.
Authorities did not mention if drugs and/or alcohol were contributing factors in the fatal motorcycle accident on Fruitridge Road.
The Sacramento County Sheriff Coroner identified Daniel Leyva as the man who died in the crash. The case is listed as involving a criminal charge to the driver of the vehicle who struck the rider, but there are no further details.
