Daniel McCoy, 60, Killed in San Jose Hit-and-Run at Queens Lane and Old Bayshore
SAN JOSE, CA (January 31, 2022) – Daniel McCoy was killed after a hit-and-run crash at Queens Lane and Old Bayshore Highway in San Jose.
Police identified the 60-year-old man as the victim of the fatal collision which took place earlier this month.
The incident began when Daniel McCoy was riding a bicycle in the westbound lanes of Old Bayshore Highway in San Jose. At the same time, a cargo van was going south on Queens Lane.
Driver Hits Bicyclist, Flees Scene
Police said for an unknown reason the van then made a left turn onto eastbound Old Bayshore. In the process, the vehicle struck the bicyclist near Highway 101.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and soon found the cyclist down on the ground. He sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident.
Medical personnel then rushed the rider to a hospital, where he died. The Mercury News and KTVU News wrote that the collision occurred on January 5 at about 6:15 p.m.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver of the van did not stop to render aid and sped off. Officers are still searching for the hit-and-run suspect who left Daniel McCoy in the roadway.
The cause of San Jose hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
