Daniel Pasillas, 17, Killed, 3 Injured in Jurupa Valley Car Accident
JURUPA VALLEY, California (September 8, 2014) – Daniel Pasillas, 17, of Jurupa Valley was killed and his passenger critically injured Saturday afternoon when their car collided head-on with a truck after allegedly engaging in a street race with another driver on Granite Hill Road, roughly a mile west of Pyrite Street , according to a report by the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
Jurupa Valley Police Department responded to the 3:56 p.m. crash on Saturday, September 6 and the preliminary investigation shows that the teenager’s Mustang had been racing with another motorist prior to the fatal collision.
Police say Pasillas’ Mustang was engaging in a speed race with another vehicle westbound on Granite Hill Road when the Mustang veered into eastbound lanes and crashed into the truck. Pasillas died at the scene of the crash, his passenger was critically injured and two people in the truck were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
The Jurupa Valley Station Traffic Reconstruction Team is heading up the investigation into the fatal crash. The roadway was closed down for a 7-hour investigation on the day of the crash. They are seeking the public’s help to find the driver who was racing with Pasillas prior to the crash with the truck driver.
