RANCHO SANTA FE (August 11, 2017)- According to NBC San Diego, a rollover car crash took place Tuesday, August 8, at or near the intersection of Elfin Forst Road and Harmony Grove Road.
Authorities indicated the incident occurred in the morning at 8:30 a.m. when the driver of an SUV took a turn too sharply causing the vehicle to rollover. Moments later a black SUV driven by a woman ID’ed as Celia Ebrahimi suddenly collided with the SUV.
A total of seven teens were in the overturned vehicles all who suffered injuries including Daniela Peronne, 17,
Peronne sustained multiple injuries including a fractured spine which will likely result in a lengthy rehab program to get on the road back to recovery.
Per NBC News San Diego, Peronne remains in the hospital but is expected to be released at some point on Friday from Palomar Hospital.
The article disclosed that two other friends remain hospitalized. One of which is currently in the ICU at this time.
The high number of collisions that are caused but teenagers and young drivers in their 20s have continued to remain a common trend as there has been a sharp increase in these accidents over the last few years. Mr. Johnson refers to this phenomenon of persistently high crash rates among teenage drivers as the “young driver problem.”
Based on the information provided, the young driver of the SUV will be held responsible for the injuries incurred by victims involved. There are still several unanswered questions here. Was the driver under the influence of alcohol or drugs? Did excessive speed or distracted driving play a role? Was the driver negligent in any other way? We trust officials are looking into these and other factors in order to determine precisely what occurred here and why.
