Danniqua Tims, 31, Hits and Kills Pedestrian in Oakland

OAKLAND, CA (August 27, 2022) – Authorities detained Danniqua Tims after a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in Oakland.

Police identified the 31-year-old Pittsburg woman as the suspect in the accident which occurred at Piedmont Avenue and West MacArthur Boulevard.

The incident happened on Thursday when Danniqua Tims was driving a 2016 Chrysler at high rate of speed west on MacArthur Boulevard in Oakland.

At the same time, Andrew Tonken was walking across MacArthur at the intersection with Piedmont Avenue. Police said Danniqua Tims then struck the pedestrian in the marked crosswalk.

The East Bay Times wrote that the collision took place on August 25 at about 4 p.m. The victim ended up suffering from serious injuries as a result of the accident.

Paramedics rushed the 35-year-old San Francisco man to a hospital, where he died. Meanwhile, police added that the suspect fled the area after hitting Andrew Tonken.

She went back to the scene but failed to stop. Officers soon stopped and arrested Danniqua Tims on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run causing death.

The Oakland pedestrian crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the police at 510-777-8570.
