LONG BEACH: DUI Hit-and-run at Fashion Avenue and 28th Street; Darren Briley ArrestedLONG BEACH, California — A teenage girl was taken to a hospital with serious injuries after their occupied vehicle was struck by a hit-and-run driver at Fashion Avenue and 28th Street.

According to an article by Press Telegram, the March 21 accident happened when a speeding Honda Accord on northbound Fashion Avenue ran a stop sign at 28th Street and crashed into a Toyota Camry legally crossing the intersection.

Paramedics arrived shortly after 8:30 a.m. and rescued a teenage girl riding in a rear passenger seat of the Toyota. She appeared to be hurt the worst among the three family members occupying the victim vehicle. Paramedics said the girl was in critical condition during the transfer to a hospital.

The severity of injuries sustained by the two other people were not discussed.

Police said they were able to track down the driver a short time later and arrest him without any problems. The felon was identified as 25-year-old Darren Israel Briley. Briley was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, driving under the influence and a probation violation shortly after the crash.
