Wrong-Way Driver Javier Sosa Arrested
SAN RAFAEL, California (August 22, 2016) – 68-year-old David Bannister and three others were hurt following an alleged DUI collision on Highway 101 near Merrydale Road, according to an article by Press Democrat.
The accident took place on August 21, Sunday at around 2:00 a.m.
In detail, the article mentioned Bannister was traveling in a 2013 Honda Fit on the southbound of the highway. Then suddenly, a wrong-way 2000 Mercedes sedan drove directly in front him. As per the article, Bannister maneuvered to avoid a head-on crash and managed to minimize damages as only the vehicles’ left sides collided. The force from the impact resulted in injuries to Bannister and two more occupants from the Honda.
Further, the Mercedes driver was also hurt from the wreck. He is later identified as 32-year-old Javier Joaquin Sosa. Sosa was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI charges, driving the wrong way on a freeway causing injury and driving without a license or vehicle insurance.
