David Betts, 65, Killed in Moreno Valley Crash at Lasselle Street, Iris Avenue
1 Killed, 3 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collision
MORENO VALLEY, Calif. (Sept. 3, 2026) — David Betts, 65, of Menifee, has been identified as the man who died in a Moreno Valley crash on August 28th at Lasselle Street and Iris Avenue.
The violent, four-vehicle collision occurred around 5:54 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 28th, according to the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station. One of the vehicles was totaled and wound up overturned on its driver’s side on the grass next to the sidewalk. A blue sedan and a black or grey Cadillac sedan came to a stop in the intersection face-to-face with major front-end damage. Vehicle parts and debris were scattered all over the intersection.
Police responded to the intersection and reported there were at least several vehicles with major collision damage. Paramedics transported four people from the vehicles to the hospital in critical condition. However, one of those injured was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner has since identified that person as David Betts.
The Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Traffic Reconstruction Team is handling the investigation. The cause of the collision has not been released, pending the outcome of this investigation.
