Teenage Boy Struck and Killed on Mesa View Drive
VICTORVILLE, Calif. (August 29, 2024) — David Anthony Campo, 42, of Victorville, has been arrested on felony hit-and-run charges for a fatal pedestrian accident at Mesa View Drive and Olivine Road.
The deadly crash occurred at 8:26 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20th, according to Victor Valley News Group.
A witness called 911 to report the suspect was allegedly driving a late-model blue Nissan 350z. The vehicle was traveling southbound on Mesa view Road when he reportedly struck the unidentified male juvenile. The victim was a Hispanic male between 13 and 15 years old and he was carrying a bag with chips and drinks.
Meanwhile, the driver involved fled the scene without calling for help or assisting the injured boy.
The Victorville police and fire departments responded and located the severely-injured pedestrian. The person was transported by air ambulance to Loma Linda University Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.
Investigators booked the driver at the High Desert Detention Center.
