David Castillo, 64, Hit and Killed by Car in Morongo Valley

MORONGO VALLEY (November 12, 2019) – A pedestrian was killed after a traffic collision in the area of Highway 62 and Lanning Lane Saturday evening.

The California Highway Patrol said 64-year-old David Castillo died following the accident on November 9. The collision took place at about 6:50 p.m.

According to an article published by The Desert Sun, a Toyota Avalon struck Castillo for an unknown reason at the intersection of Highway 62 and Lanning Lane.

Driver Seriously Injured in Morongo Valley Crash on Highway 62

CHP affirmed that the Toyota was headed east when it hit the man who came from the Country Market at the time. The victim went partially through the car’s windshield upon impact.

Paramedics responded to the crash site and pronounced Castillo dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, medical personnel took the 64-year-old Joshua Tree woman driving the car to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs with major injuries.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
