Fatal Car Accident on Vista Del Mar
PLAYA DEL REY, Calif. (June 6, 2024) – David Ceja, 17, and Hector Ceja Jr., 15, have been identified as the two brothers who died Tuesday night in a multi-vehicle crash on Vista Del Mar in Playa del Rey.
The teenagers were both students at Morningside High School in Inglewood. Their grieving parents attended graduation ceremonies two days later and accepted the diploma earned by the older son David.
The head-on crash also left two of the three survivors with major injuries when it happened in front of 8808 Vista Del Mar at around 7:55 p.m. on June 4th, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to the 8800 block of Vista Del Mar, near Dockweiler State Beach, the report said.
They located five people with moderate to major injuries including two people who were trapped inside vehicles. Unfortunately, one of those trapped in the wreckage died before firefighters were able to free the person.
Meanwhile, the four other injured people were transported to hospitals, but one boy died at the hospital. One of the others was was listed in fair condition and two were in critical condition.
The three surviving victims included an 18-year-old woman, a 30-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man, the report said.
Finally, investigators from the Los Angeles Police Department are working on the case and whether or not speed was a factor in the crash on Vista Del Mar.
