Bicycle Rider David Wood, 29, Killed in Bakersfield Crash on Allen Road

BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 17, 2022) – Bicycle rider David Dee Wood Jr was killed after a crash on Allen Road in Bakersfield.

The coroner’s office identified the 29-year-old Bakersfield man as the victim of the fatal accident which took place on Sunday.

The incident happened when David Dee Wood Jr was riding a bicycle near Rosedale Highway in Bakersfield. For an unknown reason, a car struck him.

Bicyclist Hit by Car

A California Highway Patrol dispatch said a blue Audi sedan hit the bicyclist. The two collided on Allen Road, just north of Jomani Drive.

The rider sustained serious injuries as a result of the wreck. The Bakersfield Californian and 23 ABC News wrote that the collision occurred on October 16 at about 5:41 a.m.

Paramedics arrived and soon pronounced David Wood dead at the scene of the bicycle accident. Meanwhile, CHP did not mention if the driver stopped or stayed at the site following the incident.

Officers forced a stretch of Allen Road to shut down for a time near Jomani after the wreck. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
