Multi-Vehicle Fatality Collision at Rio Linda Blvd., E Street
NORTH SACRAMENTO, Calif. (June 4, 2025) — David Bryant Estis, 47, of Plumas Lake, died in a head-on crash Saturday night that shut down both directions of Rio Linda Boulevard, north of E Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision was reported at 9:23 p.m. on May 31 and involved at least three vehicles, including a blue and gray Scion XB, a black Chevrolet Tahoe SUV, and a white Dodge Ram pickup truck. CHP logs indicated a head-on collision blocked multiple lanes at the scene.
Wrong-Way Driver Collision
Sacramento Fire Department responded quickly, and a full closure was ordered in both directions of the roadway. Tow trucks were dispatched to remove the vehicles, which were held as evidence as the investigation continued.
A fire chaplain was called to the scene and confirmed the wrong-way driver from the Scion XB was dead. The man’s name was later released by the Sacramento County Sheriff-Coroner. Meanwhile, at least one other person was taken to a hospital with undisclosed injuries.
All lanes were reopened by 11:30 p.m., according to officials.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but preliminary results indicate alcohol may have been a factor.
