Motorcyclist David Ring, 64, Killed Dos Palos Crash on Valeria Avenue
DOS PALOS (October 22, 2018) – A motorcyclist was killed after a series of crashes along Valeria Avenue late Sunday night, October 21, according to The Fresno Bee and ABC 30 News.
Merced County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 64-year-old David Jess Ring, of Dos Palos.
As per the reports, California Highway Patrol said Ring was riding a 2000 Yamaha motorcycle on Valeria Avenue when he struck a dog on the road.
Ring was then ejected him from his bike and landed in the eastbound lanes of Valeria. A Dodge Challenger traveling east on Valeria Avenue ultimately struck Ring who was at the time still lying in the roadway after the initial collision.
Leroy Conley, 38, Arrested For DUI
The rider was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident took place between 10:30 and 10:40 p.m., about 800 feet east of Bryant Avenue.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Dodge was believed to be drunk driving when the incident occurred. The motorist, 38-year-old Dos Palos resident Leroy Leon Conley, was arrested and booked into Merced County Sheriff’s Main Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond on suspicion of driving while intoxicated with alcohol resulting in bodily injury.
CHP has yet to determine whether Ring died before or after being struck by the car involved. The investigation is ongoing.
