Pedestrian David Valverde, 66, Killed in Modesto Street Racing Crash
MODESTO, CA (November 1, 2022) – Pedestrian David Valverde was killed after a street racing crash on Scenic Drive in Modesto.
The coroner’s office identified the 66-year-old Modesto man as the victim of the fatal accident which took place last week on Friday.
The incident began when a motorcyclist and a BMW were racing west on Scenic Drive. At the same time, David Valverde was walking on the Modesto sidewalk along the cemeteries on Scenic.
The rider approached slower moving between Coffee Road and Bodem Street. He then veered to the right to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of him.
Man Hit by Motorcyclist
The motorcycle struck the curb and ejected its operator in the process. Modesto police said both the rider and the bike struck the victim.
The Modesto Bee wrote that the collision occurred on October 28 shortly before 10 p.m. David Valverde died as a result of the pedestrian accident.
Police added that the motorcyclist survived the incident with substantial injuries. Paramedics rushed him to an area hospital for further aid.
Meanwhile, the man driving the BMW stopped and stayed at the scene. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
